As a dynamic, rapidly growing company, we are looking for a purpose-driven and dedicated Manager of QC & Technical Services to join our expanding Research and Development team. Reporting to the Director of Research and Development, the Manager will take ownership of managing the regulatory compliance and quality of Smoothie King products. The successful candidate will be quality-minded, show curiosity in the business, demonstrate willingness to take on new challenges, and develop new skills to assist and support Smoothie Kings growth and continued evolution.
Essential Functions / Major Responsibilities:
Maintain the ingredient information in the Genesis database and provide regulatory and labeling reviews for all new products.
Facilitate the management of ingredient and retail product approval process.
Own all source documentation for ingredients, including nutritional database, spec sheets, nutritional info, and C of A.
Provide regulatory support for all new products and projects in conjunction with marketing initiatives.
Provide project and reporting support to the Research and Development team.
Maintain vendor and manufacturer approval processes and update records. Provide audit support as needed.
Maintain QC policies, procedures, and testing protocols, including NBA banned substance screening.
Support Supply Chain and Operations to resolve all QC related issues reported by store operators through detailed follow-up and tracking and trending.
Maintain internal QA documentation in relation to ingredient risk assessments, shelf life studies, handling procedures, and HACCP.
Specific Job Requirements
Must be knowledgeable about quality standards, government regulations for the food industry, safety procedures, and managerial tactics.
Proficient in Genesis software.
Strong knowledge of food labeling regulations, Dietary Supplement regulations, and Clean Label industry best practices.
Knowledge of FSMA (Food Safety Modernization Act) requirements and HARPC/HACCP and supplier qualification standards.
Organized, extremely detail-oriented, able to work independently and with a team in a fast-paced and high-volume environment with emphasis on accuracy and timeliness.
Humility, creativity, business-savvy, and high interpersonal skills.
Exceptional analytical, problem identification and problem-solving skills.
Ability to make well informed decisions on a day-to-day basis and perform under pressure.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelors degree in a food-related discipline, such as food science, is required; however, a graduate degree in a similar field and/or professional experience in food production or other food-related industry will be considered.
Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a F&B or Manufacturing regulatory, product development, or QA/QC role.
Must be PCQI certified. Would prefer Servsafe Manager certification.
Proficient in Microsoft office, especially Excel.
Ability to describe different tastes, smells, and textures.
This position requires an individual to handle or taste a variety of foods, which may contain nuts, wheat, dairy and/or egg, and a variety of fruits and vegetables.
