What Makes this Job So Unique?
As the Food Safety and Regulatory Compliance Manager, you will have a unique opportunity to make a significant and meaningful contribution to the success of Appeeling Fruit and its customers through the following core job responsibilities:
Manage all 3rd party audits (SQF, FDA, Organic, Kosher, USDA, Customers) and work with all company departments to successfully correct any non-conformances.
Act as the Audit Practitioner with overall responsibility to organize and maintain the Food Safety and Quality Management System and all associated programs.
Keep Appeeling Fruit continuously audit ready by scheduling and conducting internal audits on a monthly basis.
Lead Appeeling Fruit through any recalls required.
Conduct monthly full or partial mock recalls to make sure all components required are in line in the event of an actual recall.
Record and validate changes to the Food Safety Fundamentals, Food Quality Plans and Food Safety plans.
Manage 3rd shift sanitation program and sanitation supervisor.
Responsible for all SSOPs and associated sanitation documentation/record keeping.
Develop and maintain company-wide SOPs along with document control management.
Manage all prerequisite programs to include, but not limited to: Good Manufacturing Practices, Cleaning and Sanitation, Management of Pest and Vermin, Chemical Control, Water Microbiology and Quality, Receiving Program/Supplier Approval, Traceability and Recall.
Develop an annual schedule and provide food safety and quality training for employees.
Establish, maintain and develop the Food Safety Plan and Food Safety Team.
Ensure customer complaint policy is adhered to, and manage complaint process from start to finish in time period outlined by company SOP.
Explore and recommend innovations in product, process and technology with regards to food safety.
Provide product safety and quality expertise during support of initiatives led or managed by other functional departments (e.g., Operations, Sales)

Qualified Candidates Should Possess:
Bachelor's Degree in Food Science, Plant Science, Biology, Microbiology or related field required.
5+ years of experience in a food processing or manufacturing environment, fresh cut industry experience preferred
HACCP Certification and SQF Experience required
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including working 3rd shift one time per month
Strong computer skills inclusive of the MS Office Suite
Professional oral and written communication skills including technical writing
Strong attention to detail
Ability to successfully balance multiple projects in an environment of tight deadlines
Ability to work as part of a diverse, cross-functional team
